River - Gen 2 Ch 9

Isn't she beautiful? Our little Marina.

She is. Her hair looks like your dad's after he had the blond streaks put in.

And what's this? You're teaching her to talk?

And walk? Will wonders never cease? What's come over you? Not that I'm complaining, mind you.

I want her to grow up to be a genius, so she has to get a good start in life, right?

Aha, I knew there had to be an ulterior motive.

I was thinking, one more would be nice. Maybe a boy for Erika. She still wants a boy, you know.

Well, if that's what you want, you better get busy. Erika doesn't have many child-bearing days left, you know.

So yeah, I took your advice, leave us alone for a while, will you? We're trying to make a baby here.

Sure thing. Good luck!

Hehe, we did it! I really, really hope we have a boy this time.

I hope so too, since you won't get another chance. Erika is going to age up the day after this baby is born. Just for you, I'll make sure she eats lots of apples.

Are you sure that's a good idea, reading Rain to sleep in Peaches' bed?

I don't see why not, it's not like Peaches needs the whole bed now, does she?

You didn't know that Peaches had a boyfriend now? They might be needing the whole bed, you know. He's downstairs with her right now.

What!? Boyfriend??  I thought that was just one of her co-workers. Since when did Levar become her boyfriend?

Well, to be fair, it happened just this morning, while you were busy with Marina. So I guess you couldn't have known. They've been pretty busy since then, though. Do you want to know the details?

Uh.. no thanks. I can't believe you watched them.

Ho hum, it looks like it's River freak-out time again. Time to head to the hospital, daddy.

Ack! Eek! Oh... yeah... hospital.

It's a girl! Her name is Malibu.

I see that. So much for the barrel of apples I forced Erika to eat.

I still want a boy. I do love her dearly, but just one boy - is that too much to ask?

I just don't see how that's gonna happen - Erika just became an elder.

She's still just as beautiful as ever, I think. And I'm sure you'll think of something - you always do.

Hm..well, you could adopt.

Mmm.. we could, I guess. But I would really like to have a son that was part of me, you know?

I know! What about Peaches? I know she loves babies. She gets really bent out of shape when Erika beats her to Malibu.

Uh... what about Peaches? You mean... you and Peaches.. What??? I thought you didn't like Peaches that way?

I don't. I would just ask her as a favor, you know. No romance involved.

But.. but she has a boyfriend! And you are married! Think of the scandal!

It was just an idea. If you come up with anything better, I'm sure you'll let me know.

In the mean time, I see it's time for another 'welcome baby' party.

Actually it's a campaign fundraiser.

Coulda fooled me. Everyone's arguing over who's going to hold the new baby again, just like all your parties.

Oh my, who is the handsome blond kid that came with Ocean?

Oh, that's Fluffy's boy Cameron. You remember Fluffy, Ocean's imaginary friend? She left Ocean and married some guy and they have two kids.

And this is his brother Casey.

Yummy.

What?

Nothing. Never mind.

I'm glad Peaches' boyfriend made it to the party. He seems to be a decent sort. He's even donating to my campaign. I wonder... I bet he wouldn't mind if I asked Peaches to... you know. Maybe I could offer him a job in my administration, when I win the election..

I can't believe you're actually going to do this.

I have my doubts if Peaches will even agree to it. She has a good thing going at the stadium as a super star athlete, you know.

"So let me get this straight. You want me to give you a son.  Because Erika can't have any more kids. River, you have been my BFF since forever. How can I possibly refuse?"

Ehehehe! She agreed!

This is madness, you know. But since you are set on doing this, I have an idea. You remember you and Peaches both have a cameo scheduled at the theater tomorrow. Perhaps something can be arranged while you are there.

At least you used separate exits. I don't think anyone noticed anything untoward. Now to force feed Peaches as many apples as I can.

You think it worked?

I know it worked.

It worked!

I told you. I still think this was a bad idea, though.

I think it's a great idea! What's wrong with it?

Oh, just this: The popular governor of a large west coast state has a secret love child with his live-in babysitter. What could possibly go wrong?

It's birthday time! Always fundraisers, but never birthday parties for your kids.

Malibu got a doll in the mail! I hope it becomes as good a friend for her as Peaches has been for me.

Happy Birthday, Marina, genius child.

And Happy Birthday, Rain!

She inherited her love of the outdoors from me!

One more birthday today! River, aren't you going to take Peaches to the hospital?

Huh?

Oh, never mind, you're still at work.

Oh my. You got your boy. And it's gonna be glaringly obvious to everyone, that you are the father. He looks just like you.

River - Gen 2 Ch 8

Awww... so cute. She looks like her mommy, I think, except for her eyes. She definitely has your mom's eyes. Too bad you missed her birthday.

Yeah, I was busy. It was fine, though. Peaches was there.

Peaches does seem to be doing a good deal of the parenting around here. I shudder to think what life would be like for your daughter if Peaches wasn't around. Don't you think you should be interacting just a little with your own child?

Hmmm. Maybe you're right. She's getting big enough now that I'm not afraid I'm going to drop her anymore.

Good job! You beat Peaches to Rain this time.

Yeah, I've found that I have to be quick if I want to pick her up.

Hehe! Look at her! Isn't she adorable? Maybe this whole daddy thing isn't so bad after all.

I've only been trying to tell you that since she's been born. But better late then never, I always say.

Uh oh. She's crying again. Was is something I did? Ack! What do I do now?

She just has a dirty diaper. Why don't you change it?

Eep! "Erika! Peaches! Help!"

What a wuss. Maybe you should potty train her if you don't like dirty diapers.

Nah, I'll leave all that to Erika. She's much better at that stuff than I am. She's already taught her to walk, and next she's going to work on potty training.

Well, from what I've seen of Erika lately, you might have to step in and help out. She's throwing up again, you know.

I guess I'm not so surprised this time. We really haven't been careful at all lately.

You're telling me. So, are you a little more excited than last time, I hope?

Yes, I really want another little girl. That would be great, don't you think? A little sister for Rain?

Sounds good to me! You know I like babies!

Congratulations, Mr. Mayor! You did it! I never thought I'd see the day. Goodbye ugly brown suits! Your first ever campaign, too.

I told you I could do it! Now to relax and enjoy my success for a while...

Oh, no no no. You can't stop now. Now is the  time to step up your game! Run for governor! You gotta keep up the pressure, or you'll never be Leader of the Free World!

Hmm. In that case I need another campaign fundraiser...Erika's not gonna like that. She hates crowds, you know.

I can see why Erika hates your parties. You're just standing by and watching your guest scare her half to death? In her delicate condition, too.

What can I say? He just likes to tease, and I need his campaign contribution.

If it were me, I'd show him the door. Just sayin'.

And what's a fundraising party without someone going into labor? It looks like you're going to be an uncle soon!

I still don't know how Cloudy and Chris managed that, I've been wanting to ask them.

Well, don't. I'm sure if they wanted you to know all the details, they would have told you. Anyway, great party as usual. Your campaign coffers are full once more.

River? What in the world is the matter? Is there something wrong with Erika's guitar playing?

Call it a premonition.. the baby's coming!

Hmm.. are you sure? I can't see anything different.

See? I told you!

You better get her to the hospital! This place is way too unsanitary to give birth in. What happened to your maid, anyway?

Erika's in labor, and you're worried about the maid? I don't know what happened to the maid, she stopped coming a few days ago, I don't know why. Now stop with the maid already, we're leaving for the hospital.

Wow, even the hospital employees are freaking out. Is it because there's a pregnant woman *gasp* walking into a hospital to give birth? Or is it because the lobby carpet is so thick the pregnant woman is sinking in it up to her ankles? Or perhaps because the receptionist has been replaced with a garden gnome...

It looks like you survived the shoe-eating carpet, and  the garden gnome managed to direct you to the correct department. And you look almost as thrilled as you did the last time Erika gave birth.

Actually, I am thrilled this time. So there. I might have been a overwhelmed for a few minutes there, but now, just look at her! She looks just like me! We named her Marina.

You're not afraid you're going to drop her?

Nah, that was pretty silly, wasn't it?

Another party? What's everyone doing in the nursery?

It's Rain's birthday party. Everyone came upstairs to see Marina, though.

Poor Rain. All your guests are still upstairs with Marina.

Eh, Rain won't care. See? Happy as a clam. I didn't realize the baby would be such a draw, though.

Well, she is. Chris, Cloudy and Ocean have been fighting over who gets to hold her first. Looks like Ocean won out.

Of course. Ocean always makes sure he wins at everything.

Not in the family department, he didn't. He's still not even married, and Cloudy has a baby girl, and you have two beautiful daughters.

Speaking of daughters, "Happy Birthday, Rain!"

I think I am about to faint in surprise. The first thing Rain did after eating her cake, was to clean up the piles of old newspapers littering the front porch! This family never cleans up anything!

I can't believe it either! There was no way my mom would have gotten me to do that when I was a kid, let alone do it on my own. I'm not complaining, but what gives?

And now she's doing all the dishes - in the sink, no less - since the dishwasher has been broken for weeks now, and no one seems to care.

I hope there's nothing wrong with her. Do you think I should bring her to the doctor?

I don't think that will be necessary. River, I don't know how to break this to you, but I think your daughter has acquired the neat trait. There's nothing wrong with her, she just loves to clean.

That doesn't sound healthy. Are you sure she'll be okay?

Believe me, she'll be fine. And your house will stay a lot cleaner from now on.

That was fast! Governor Whisperwind! Do you know what day it is?

Of course! It's election day, and I won! I need to call all my supporters and thank them!

Besides that. Think hard, it's important.

I give up. Tell me.

It's Marina's birthday. And once again, Peaches is the only one home.

---------------------------------------------------------------

I was so glad to see River get promoted to mayor. I have my story progression set for something, I think it's called "there can be only one", so for certain jobs, there can be only one sim in the the town to hold that position. Misty got stuck trying to get promoted to mayor, since there already was a mayor. River managed to depose the current mayor the first time.

River's wishes have been boring me to death lately. Not a lot going on besides baby wishes and his wish to max the charisma skill. At least he's interested in this baby! Maybe it was the midlife crisis after all. He still seems to me to be really unsure when it comes to doing anything for his kids, so that is how I write it.

Rain acquired the neat trait to go along with brave and clumsy, and Marina rolled slob and loser - she got those from Erika.
